I will miss my Scruffy Puppy....

Such a sad afternoon and evening for me and the rest of the family... Our precious puppy of 12 years had to be put to sleep....She had been gradually getting worse and worse, the equivalent to human " senile dementia" cataracts and losing hearing....she was scared of everything and shook and trembled , she didn't understand what she heard and saw or couldn't see.... I didn't want her to continue to suffer...today was an especially bad day and it had to be done...... I loved my SCruffy !!! And I am sad and feeling lonely without her, she was ALWAYS at my side !!!

  2. Bless your heart. It's sad when we must let go of our beloved fur babies. You honored her by letting her go at a time when she wasn't doing well. Hold tight to the memories.

  8. Hi Robin! I am very sorry to hear the news about your sweet little Scruffy. I can truly understand how you are feeling. Our furry friends really become so much a part of our families. I had a cat who passed away back in 2003, just 3 weeks before I was going to go to the US to visit my folks. My parents cared for her, and it was very hard on them when she passed away, as it was for me since I couldn't be there for her. Before she did, she got really bad, and I sometimes wonder if my folks should of had her put to sleep so she didn't suffer any. She was a wonderful cat who I still miss. I do send you my deepest and sincere sympathy on your loss of Scruffy!

    Prim hugs,
    Andrea

  9. Robin, So sorry about your Scruffy dog. I know how it is. I've had to put down 2 cats in the years past. And now I have 2 cats that are 15 years old and one isn't doing very well, so I know that day is coming.

    Hugs,
    Tammy

  12. Oh Robin, I'm so very sorry to hear this. The loss of our furry babies can be unbearable at times but it was time for her to say goodbye. Whenever I know someone has lost their beloved pet, I send them the Rainbow Ridge poem.
    God bless... Peanut

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

  15. Dear Robin, reading your post brought me back to the day (almost 2 years ago) when we did the same for our 13 yr. old golden retriever. It so incredibly heartbreaking and words can not describe the loss. We said we could never replace him yet not having our Houston to come home to was worse. Three months later we got 2 goldens!!! Brothers with different mothers!! They did not replace our Houston but they have brought an unbelievable joy back into our family. You are in my prayers, Kathy

  16. Robin,
I am sorry to hear that your doggie had to be put down. What a sad day for your and your family. We have two weiner dogs; one who is over 14 years, and he is getting some disabilities, and I dread that day that we have to make the same decision.
Dogs give us so much love, and never ask for anything in return, except for dog treats and more love:)

  19. OH Robin,
My heart just weeps for you. What a courageous gift you blessed your precious puppy with.
I am so touched that you have so many loving friends embracing you at this time, who really feel your pain and are here for you. Please consider me one of those folks. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Kat

Sorry to hear about your little Scruffy....she was a cutie.
Pets are just like one of the family, even better sometimes! I read a card that made me laugh outloud in the market the other day..."Dogs are great......they are the only one who see you naked, wrinkled and old body and not laugh."

  21. Robin,
I thought I commented before but apparently not...whoops!

I'm very sorry about your loss. I cannot imagine how you must feel! We went through many pets when I was growing up but we didn't have any of them for long. I cannot imagine what it will be like when Hunter and Ruger get to be older and we have to deal with this :(

I hope you are feeling a bit better...

    Hugs!

  22. Robin I am so sorry about the loss of your precious. I've been down that road and losing someone so special is one of the hardest things we've ever gone through. It's so hard to see them in such pain and confusion. Those sweet little people with fur are part of the family. I hope your feeling a little better.

    Hugs - Karen

I hope now that some time has passed, the void in your heart is not so deep but instead, starting to fill with loving memories.
